This is a Trippin' for adventure seekers, nature enthusiasts and those who would just love an unforgettable opportunity to soar and celebrate the first recorded seaplane flight off the shores of America in Taveres, February 23, 1914... 112 years ago!!!!
LIFE members will meet with a professional from Jones Brother's as they educate the group on the history and specifics of the various seaplanes. They will share the history of the area and Jones Brother's, along with all events that occur at this location throughout the year. We will then be led to the "Lift Off" ramp to experience the excitement of takeoff and our final SPLASH DOWN on Lake Dora. This 15-minute stunning aerial view of Tavares - "America's Seaplane City" and the beautiful Harris Chain of Lakes will be a hit! Soar over lush Florida landscapes, charming waterfront homes, and historic Mount Dora. Your pilot will provide insights into the area's history and natural beauty while you enjoy a bird's eye view of this breathtaking region.
** Although it is not included in the price: Stay for lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy a picnic in Wooten Park, visit the Lake County Historical Society or Lake County Museum of Art...or even venture into nearby Mt. Dora, for the rest of the day!
Wear comfortable clothes and you may want to bring a water bottle, sunglasses, jacket and hat, if weather suggests.
There is plenty of parking in Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby St., Tavares.
This Trippin' will operate unless canceled due to weather conditions. If so, the date will be rescheduled within a two-week period.
We have been promised two pilots who will take groups of 1, 2 or 3 for their 15-minute tour! Groups will be allowed to either choose their flight partners or we will use a "lottery" to decide. ***There is a maximum weight of 300 pounds per person on these seaplanes.
The cost for the historical lecture/presentation and a 15-minute flight is $130. The cost is inclusive of all fees, classroom time, pilots for two planes, gratuities and the flight itself. The deadline for cancellation of this great Trippin' event is March 27th after which time a full refund will be given only if a person on the wait list is willing and able to take your place.
