Don't miss the chance for an exclusive tour of Fired Up! The Art of Porcelain Paining with featured artist, and LIFE at UCF member, Carol Pickler, in the Historic Capen House. Participants will learn about the unique and ancient craft of porcelain painting. Carol will discuss her inspirations and her dedication to preserving the art of porcelain painting for future generations.

Zalpha Hashem offered me the following "mini-bio" on Carol. Carol Pickler, Porcelain Painter Extraordinaire

After a career dedicated to teaching Language Arts (mostly to middle school students), Carol Pickler began a second career in painting, especially on porcelain. To many patrons of the arts, porcelain painting is a lesser-known painting. Carol learned directly from her mother about this unique medium and continues to promote, lead, support, and produce painting on porcelain. She continues to learn and demonstrate new techniques in this art form through her membership and collaboration with groups and organizations such as: Florida World Organization of China Painters and Porcelain Painting in America. Carol has conducted demonstrations, presentations, and served as a featured artist at their retreats, conventions, and seminars. Her work is highly regarded, and she has won awards for her expert technique, creativity, texture, and brilliant colors. Carol offers classes in her Oviedo home studio. The Polasek Museum of Winter Park will feature Carol Pickler at The Capen House September 4-7. -Zalpha Hashem

The visit ot the Polasek Museum will also include a docent-led tour or Alvin Polasek's home and studio, providing insights into the artis's background and showcasing his numerous work son display. Additionally, attendees will ave the opportunity to view the current exhibition in the Polasek Gallery, Timeless Mosaics presented by the Society of American Mosaic Artists.

Following both presentations, LIFE members may stroll through the lovely Sculpture Gardens on their own.

The cost of this Trippin' through LIFE event is $10 with all collected funds going to a donation to the Polesek Museum. To receive a full refund, cancellations must be made by August, 29th. After that date, you will only receive a refund if there is a wait list and someone is willing and able to take your place.
